Right Wing Talk Show Host Indicted

Popular Houston conservative arrested for exposing himself to a minor, the latest in a string of embarrassments for radio icons

Radio talk show host Jon Matthews was indicted on one count of indecency with a child Wednesday. Matthews has been a leading consevative talk show host in Houston, Texas for years.

Apparently, Mr. Matthews exposed his genitals to a child in his Sugar Land neighborhood. The child complained to police, who investigated the incident, and Matthews was indicted last Wednesday by a Fort Bend County jury.

If convicted, Matthews could face from 2 to 10 years in prison.

Matthews has been the morning show host on KSEV AM. He resigned from his job after learning of his indictment. According to KSEV's web site, Matthews is a former Marine who was raised in nearby Beaumont, Texas.

The fall of yet another icon has stunned conservative audiences everywhere. First, it was Bill Bennett, the morals czar, who was exposed as a gambling addict. Then, popular radio host Rush Limbaugh was revealed to be a drug addict.

Some conservatives claim that conservative leaders like Bennett and Limbaugh simply buckle from the temptation of having to live in a world corrupted by liberal vices. But critics claim that these so-called spokesmen of the right wing are nothing more than hypocrits -- people who preach one thing and do another.

"It doesn't surprise me at all that another right wing whacko has been exposed as a pervert," said popular shock jock Howard Stern. "Let's not forget Dr. Laura and her topless internet photos that have been around for years, all while she's pretending to be a paragon of virtue to her radio audience."

KSEV has not announced a permanent replacement for Mr. Matthews.
