Clark Planning a "Reverse Bush"The general turned presidential candidate plans to reverse all of Bush's moves
General Wesley Clark has wasted no time after throwing his hat in the ring for the Democratic presidential nomination. The first major plank of his platform has been announced, and it is being referred to as the "Reverse Bush." The announcement came during a speech given by Clark in front of the Rotary Club of West Little Rock in Clark's home state of Arkansas last week. During the speech, Clark was critical of President Bush's handling of the Iraq situation and the U.S. economy. "Everything he's done is wrong," said Clark, in the emphatic style that has drawn many to his campaign. "What we need is a radical plan that we are calling the 'Reverse Bush.'" Clark went on to elaborate about his plan. "The 'Reverse Bush' is basically the undoing of every single thing that Bush has done since he became President. Every law he signed? Repealed. Every tax cut? Thrown out. Every regulation repealed? Reinstated."
"We obviously can't reverse the attack on Iraq, but we can involve the United Nations and allow an international force to govern," said Clark. "So, we can't reverse an attack, but just about everything else is fair game for reversal." Clark talked further about the need for the "Reverse Bush" measures. "Since President Clinton left office, unemployment has increased by 2 million, health benefits have been lost by hundreds of thousands of people, just about every state has faced fiscal crises, and the only people that have gained anything are the millionaires and the Halliburtons of the world," said Clark. "That's got to change." White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan was asked about Clark's remarks. "It's all talk," said McClellan, "and if he thinks we're just going to stand around and let him create jobs or ease unemployment and basically undo everything President Bush has done, he's got a few things to learn." |
