Carey Takes Aim at Governor's Office

The most surprising candidate, an adult film star, would like to be on top

Mary Carey is considered one of the longshots in the California recall election. However, the other candidates would be well advised not to underestimate the underated adult film star.

Win or lose, though, it's clear that California's "DD" candidate has a few things to get off of her chest in recall election, starting with her celebrity status. Considered by some to be a "fringe" candidate, the star of such films as "Busty Hooters" and "Jiggly Jugs," considers her candidacy to be every bit as legitimate as that of the actors in the race, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gary Coleman.

"I'm an actor, just like they are. 'Busty Hooters' may not have made as much money as 'Terminator,' but I deserve to be taken just as seriously," said Carey, speaking with the Inquisitor from the set of her latest film "Bodacious Ta Tas: Jugs on Parade."

Carey's campaign believes their candidate is poised to make a run at the leading candidates, Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante and Schwarzenegger. Aside from the fact that California has never elected an adult film actor to serve as governor, though, there are concerns in the Carey camp.

"The same way that Republicans worry about McClintock and Arnold splitting the Republican vote, we fear that Larry Flynt and Mary Carey will split the porn vote," said Carey's campaign manager, Rock Hardson, a fellow actor and sometime boyfriend of Carey, who added that "Angelyne could also draw a few of the porn voters away, even though she's not technically a porn star."

If elected to lead California, Carey promises a quick solution to the state's desparate financial problems.

"I plan to add web cams in the governor's mansion so that people can see government in action," said Carey.

Carey has also promised to bring along several of her film co-stars along with her to serve as an informal cabinet, creating new positions for several of them.

"Some of these positions -- the ones Mary proposes to create -- have never been seen in Sacramento," said Hardson. "We think it'll be a fun and sexy way to get the State back on solid fiscal ground."

Asked whether she thought her controversial film career would hinder her election propsects, Carey said she felt just the opposite.

"Politicians are always falling victim to scandals involving the exposure of some kind of sex activity," explained Carey adding "my activities don't have to be exposed. They're available on VHS and DVD."

Her final words advice to voters on the recall of Davis and the leading candidate to replace him, Bustamante: "Let's get rid of those two boobs and elect mine."
